About UpStudy

There is so much to think about.

But what to make of it all? We always want to be making something...

We are tool users. We are observers, thinkers, perpetual students, gatherers of wondrous information, crafters of process and of artifact.

UpStudy is a tool we are building in response to the ways our other tools fall short in the support of our processes. If it takes half a month for me to set up the calendar I designed for the month, this is not a sustainable process. I need a tool that lets me Rube Goldberg my way to happiness. To build the machines AND work them.

UpStudy is a tool to help gather and engage with information, because it’s so much more fun if you can respond to it and connect one thought to another and think your thinks about it all, be in conversation with it, creating trails you can walk again later. It’s a tool that encourages telling and retelling and retelling until you get the rhythm of it and it lands right and lets you go. It’s a tool for getting messy with it and for making clean faces for it that don’t lose the mess which we believe to be vital and living, the breathing provenance behind all the clean surfaces.

Our interests include writing and modeling and tracking and translating ideas into form and condensing into keywords and inventing new ways. Our realms include dreams and divination, astrology, cartomancy and game development, building worlds from tectonic plates up.

UpStudy is the world we are creating to allow us to play with our food.
